Chemical Peel treatment takes approximately one hour.  We will cleanse your face, apply the chemical peel solution to your face, at which time depending on the peel you could experience tingling or burning sensations which is normal and expected reactions.  A handheld fan can be used during the procedure to minimize discomfort, which usually subsides in a few minutes.  We will leave the chemical solution on your skin and send you home with skin care instructions.

Recovery After a Chemical Peel

Your skin will start peeling a few days after treatment depending on the level of chemical peel treatment.  Regardless of the amount of peeling, the skin is still sloughing off at an accelerated rate, which will result in the following benefits:  improvement in the appearance of skin tone and texture, smoothness of fine lines and wrinkles.  Your skin might be sensitive, red and tender.  Your skin care professional will provide you with in depth post-procedure instructions.  Your post-peel regimen will include SkinMedica® Sensitive Skin Cleanser or Facial Cleanser, moisturizer appropriate for your skin type, and Total Defense Sunscreen SPF 30 or higher.

How should I protect my skin post peel?

The new skin is more susceptible to sunburn, extra precautions should be taken to limit sun exposure for at lease one week after the peel.  It is imperative to use a SkinMedica® sunscreen product with a SPF  of 30 or higher.
